  • Overview

    The Mechanical Engineer shall be routinely involved with all aspects of the design and build of mechanical components and assemblies. The Mechanical Engineer shall be fully capable of designing complex mechanical machine tool motion systems, components and assemblies for automated welding equipment in a cost effective manner that shall meet customer specifications. The Mechanical Engineer will also participate in process development and improvement for Direct Manufacturing projects. This job description indicates the general nature and level of the work that is expected.     3 or more years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment (metalworking industry prefered)

    Experience in mechanical design of industrial equipment that includes motor/gearbox rotary/linear assemblies, servo controls, and the design of large structures and weldments; with CNC equipment design preferred.

    Working knowledge of mechanical fits and tolerances.

    Capable of effective team-based, technical leadership & support for multiple projects, while operating within strict timelines and budget constraints.

    Effective communicator with various technical departments and customers.

    Mechanical Design experience using 3D CAD software (Creo / Pro-E . Siemens NX a plus)

    Experience designing shop tooling and fixturing

    Willingness to work hands-on with $1M+ systems, including design, set-up, programming, processing, and troubleshooting

    Must be a U.S. Citizen and willing to travel foreign and domestically (less than 10% travel)



    Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

    Experience with CAD/CAM software (Siemens NX or MasterCam)

    Experience with CNC programming and operation

    Hands-on manufacturing experience (machining, welding, etc.)

    Knowledge of structural and/or thermal FEA software

    Knowledge of either ARC, Resistance and/or Electron Beam Welding technology.
