  • Overview

    The Test and Service Engineer provides testing support for all machines built at Sciaky.  They also repair, test and calibrate machines in the field at customer sites.  This job description indicates the general nature and level of the work that is expected. It is not designed to contain a comprehensive or all-inclusive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities. Other duties may be required.


    Repair customer products using technical manuals and knowledge of electronics, using test and diagnostic equipment

    Test and repair all systems on Electronic Beam Additive Manufacturing systems and Electron Beam welders, Acu-weld and resistance welders

    Troubleshoot and repair PC Boards

    Test electronic units using standard test equipment and analyze results to evaluate performance and determine need for adjustment

    Program test fixture components

    Analyze and interpret product test data through analysis of analog, digital, mixed signal, switching regulators and power circuits

    Troubleshoot problems found in the development, test or installation of our products as they relate to electronics and recommend solutions

    Investigate new instrumentation, explore new concepts and test operating practices in order to improve overall test process


    Ability to read and follow blueprints

    Ability to troubleshoot printed circuit boards to component level

    Ability to follow electrical schematics and troubleshoot circuits including high voltage

    Ability to troubleshoot machine mechanics

    Willingness to travel 50% of time with some travel being on very short notice

    Demonstrated problem solving skills

    Soldering skills

    Experience with ladder logic

    Experience troubleshooting and maintaining automated weld equip.

    Previous field service experience
